Code of Conduct - Parents, Carers and Spectators


Purpose

1. This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected from all parents, carers and spectators to ensure a safe, respectful and enjoyable environment for every child involved in cricket at the club.


Our Commitment

2. The club is committed to:


a. Providing a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment.

b. Ensuring children can enjoy cricket free from pressure, fear or inappropriate

c. Upholding ECB Safe Hands safeguarding standards.


3. Parents, carers and spectators play a vital role in supporting this commitment.


Expectations of Behaviour

4. Supportive and Positive Conduct. Parents, carers and spectators must:


a. Encourage all children, not just their own

b. Applaud effort, fair play and good performance from both teams

c. Promote enjoyment over results

d. Use positive, supportive language at all times


5. Respect for Coaches, Officials and Volunteers. You must:


a. Respect the decisions of coaches and match officials.

b. Allow coaches to coach and officials to officiate without interference

c. Raise concerns calmly and privately with the appropriate club official, never

during play or in front of children


6. Safeguarding and Welfare. You must:


a. Prioritise the welfare and wellbeing of all children

b. Never engage in behaviour that could be seen as bullying, aggressive or

intimidating

c. Never use foul, abusive or discriminatory language

d. Follow all club safeguarding procedures, including photography and

changing-room policies


7. Boundaries and Appropriate Involvement. Parents, carers and spectators must:


a. Not enter the field of play unless invited by an official.

b. Not coach from the boundary or contradict team coaches.

c. Not place undue pressure on any child to perform, win or specialise.

d. Ensure children arrive and are collected promptly for training and matches.


Communication and Conduct Online

8. Parents, carers and spectators must:

a. Use social media responsibly and respectfully

b. Never post negative, critical or identifying comments about children, coaches, officials or the club

c. Follow the club’s photography and online-safety guidance


Alcohol, Smoking and Behaviour at the Ground

9. Alcohol must be consumed responsibly and never around junior cricket in a way that affects behaviour.


10.Smoking or vaping must only take place in designated areas away from children.


11. Any behaviour that risks the safety or enjoyment of others will not be tolerated.


Reporting Concerns


12. Any safeguarding or welfare concerns must be reported to the Club Safeguarding Officer


13. Concerns will be handled sensitively and in line with safeguarding procedures.


Breaches of this Code

14. If this Code of Conduct is breached, the club may take action including:


a. Verbal or written warnings.

b. Removal from the ground.

c. Suspension from attending cricket.

d. Referral to the relevant governing body where necessary.


A Positive Cricket Environment

15. By following this Code of Conduct, parents, carers and spectators help create a safe, fun and supportive environment where children can develop their cricket skills, confidence and love of the game.
